A New Horizon: Why Windstar’s Star Seeker is the Future of Yachting
The world of luxury cruising is shifting toward an ethos of “intimacy without limits,” and Windstar Cruises is leading the way with its newest addition: Star Seeker. Arriving in late 2025, this is more than just another ship; it’s a purpose-built motor yacht engineered to go where the giants can’t.

Small Ship, Big Adventures
With only 112 suites and a capacity for just 224 guests, the Star Seeker maintains the “private yacht” feel that Windstar is famous for. However, don’t let the size fool you. This ship features an ice-strengthened hull (1C class), meaning it can navigate the remote fjords of Alaska and the rugged coastlines of Antarctica just as easily as it docks in the heart of a Mediterranean village.
The All-Suite Experience
Windstar has reimagined comfort for the Star Seeker. Nearly every suite features either a private veranda or a floor-to-ceiling “Infinity Window,” ensuring that whether you’re in the Caribbean or the Seto Inland Sea, the view is the star of the show.
What Sets It Apart?
- Watersports Platform: Like its sister ships, it features a fold-out marina for paddleboarding and kayaking right off the back of the boat.
- World-Class Dining: As the official cruise line of the James Beard Foundation, the culinary experience on board is designed to reflect the flavors of the regions the ship visits.
- Access: Because of its small footprint, the Star Seeker can tuck into tiny harbors in Japan and South Korea that are physically inaccessible to larger vessels.
The Inaugural Season
The Star Seeker begins its journey in January 2026 with a transatlantic crossing, followed by a winter season in the Caribbean, including numerous roundtrip sailings from San Juan from January through the end of April. In spring, it heads to Alaska for the summer season, then continues across the Pacific to explore the hidden gems of East Asia.
Whether you’re an experienced cruiser or looking for a more immersive way to explore, the Star Seeker offers a thoughtful balance of comfort and discovery.
