Exploring the world by river and ocean, a marriage made in heaven

Are you a cruise enthusiast who loves taking both ocean cruise and river cruises? One year you take an ocean cruise and the following year you glide the rivers?

If you are, there’s finally a way that you can get the most from both! Viking Cruises is marrying the two and releasing 3 new itineraries that combine an ocean and river cruise. Ahh, It’s like peanut butter and chocolate joining forces!

There’s 15, 18 and 22 day journeys to choose from that are part of the Ocean & River Voyages:

  • 15 day – Rhine & Viking Shores & Fjords which combines a Rhine river cruise with a North Sea sailing. This itinerary goes from Basel to Bergen (or vice versa) and has sailings available in June 2018 & 2019.
  • 18 day – Rhine and Amsterdam to Catalonia joins a Rhine cruise with a sailing along the Atlantic Ocean. Here you’ll sail from Basel to Barcelona beginning on September 29, 2018
  • 22 day – Grand European & Viking Fjords combines a Danube, Rhine and Main with a North Sea sailing. This itinerary sails May 26, 2019.

Viking is an award winning river cruise line with sailings across the world. As the newer entry into cruising, Viking Oceans is already winning awards as the #1 Ocean Cruise Line for 2017 by Travel and Leisure in the mid size category and #1 by Cruise Critic as Best Overall Cruise in 2018.

It’s only a matter of time before others join Viking in melding an Ocean and River cruise together. But for now, if you like the idea of doing a river cruise along with an ocean cruise, time to get on board soon because these sailings are very limited…
